When you have a cold or an achy throat, you may notice that the glands on either side of your neck, under your chin, or behind your ears swell up. 

Treatment

When the infection has been successfully treated, the swelling in the lymph nodes will typically go away. Taking prescription medications like antibiotics or antivirals may also reduce the edoema in the affected area.

When inflammation is present, doctors may recommend anti-inflammatory drugs.

If an underlying medical problem is the cause of the swollen lymph nodes, addressing the health issue should lessen the swelling.
